2007 Oppenlander Vineyard Mendocino County Pinot Noir - invites comparison to the royal decadence of King Henry the VIII. Big jammy blackberries and boastful boysenberries pout from the glass and then linger on the palate, leaving one in a state of delight. Complexity creeps out of the glass then swirls into the senses. Subtle smoldering spice and oak layers evolve as minutes pass. Try not to just consume this gem but savor it. The blend is equal parts clone 115, clone 114 and Pommard. Aged 11 months in new and seasoned tight grained, medium toast French oak barrels. Bottled unfined, unfiltered.
2007 Numbers Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir- is like going to the edge of the frontier with a great novel in hand. Rich earth and dark exotic fruit flows from glass to mouth. A great weight is felt in the midpalate and lingers to the finish. We source the fruit from two different clones and soil types off the Sonoma Coast appellation. The first, clone 115, comes from adobe soil which is heavy clay and almost black, found at sea level and contributes to the concentration of the wine. The second, clone 667, comes from light sandy soil mixed with a bit of small stone, lending complexity to the wine. Aged 11 months in new and seasoned tight grained, medium toast French oak barrels. Bottled unfined, unfiltered.
2007 Savoy Vineyard, Anderson Valley Pinot Noir - five clone blend. By blending five clones we are able to achieve both depth and complexity. The 114 clone off the terrace is harvested first and yields fresh red fruit flavors. The 115 clone from the front of the vineyard on heavy soil offers deep blue fruit and weight. Martini and Wadensville clones produce spice and complexity. And the Pommard clone has an overall benefit of weight and flavor adding rich earth characteristics. Ripe cherry and blueberries bounce in the nose as soft persimmon and earth rest in the background of this complex Pinot Noir. Produced by natural fermentation using only free run juice. Bottled unfined, unfiltered. Cellar for 5 - 7 years. 320 cases produced.
2007 Two Sisters Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir Using only the Martini clone from 52 year old vines gives this Pinot Noir an abundance of raspberries, bonbons and fresh earth characteristics. By aging 11months in new French oak with toasted heads adds a smoky vanilla and cinnamon component. Sadly, this is our last offering from this vineyard as the property has been sold. We are very proud of this wine and are pleased to be able to offer you this last bottling. Produced by natural fermentation using only free run juice. Bottled unfined, unfiltered. Cellar for 5 - 7 years. 50 cases produced.
